WHY THE MOST HARDWORKING ISN’T ALWAYS THE MOST SUCCESSFUL

You know those people you often see rolling around in their Top Dollar Mansions, Expensive Luxury Cars, Private Jets who always seem like they never really do anything but are filthy, stinking, rich? Then of course, you also know that someone who hustles almost 60 hours a week if not more but still struggling to get food on the table.

It’s not that success is measured by money or assets, the question is more of “Why’s it that those who work 10x, 20x, 30x, 100x harder don’t always get rewarded?”

We often believe that life happens in a linear progression - that a certain action has a predictable result.

Fact is, life is not linear at all nor are the results of our actions.

Fact is, life is not linear at all nor are the results of our actions.

Why you ask?

It’s really very simple.

WE DON’T CONTROL EVERYTHING.

There are so many variables that could affect the end result of any single action. Take for example:

Jane is very health conscious, she goes to the gym, she meditates, eats healthy.

Grandma Jill is a baddass, she smokes, eats a lot of sugar and meat and drinks a ton of Vodka at her age.

One day, Jane goes to work when suddenly —- she gets hit by a bus.

Grandma Jill lives on for 10 more years.

Despite Jane’s effort, she died. Not of her own doing but because of someone else’s mistake.

As circumstantial and extreme as the example is, the point is that there are a lot of things in this world that are out of our hands.

SO WHY EVEN BOTHER TO TRY, RIGHT?

Wrong. On the contrary, living life without direction is unsustainable. What you can do instead:

  1. Focus on the the things that you CAN control

Don’t be too hard on yourself for failing especially when the situation was out of your hands. Do your best in whatever’s in front of you without pressuring yourself to produce the perfect results.

  2. Live in the present to recognize opportunities

Focusing too much in the future blindsides you in what’s in front of your eyes. The more you stay in the now, the better your performance will be and the clearer you are in assessing opportunities that come your way, Opportunity allows success to materialize so if you lose out on a perfect opportunity just because you’re fixating too much in the future, you’ll only learn to regret it.

  3. Be patient and maintain discipline

The path to success is long and hard. People who get lucky enough to experience it overnight are one in a million - they are an exemption to the rule. Be optimistic enough to believe in yourself and your capabilities but be realistic enough to recognize that the best formula to success is still this:

Powerful discipline + Time + Opportunity

Whatever stage you may be in life, the key is to continue believing in your own path and refraining from comparing yourself to others. You are unique, your story is unique and remember that success has different faces. Your success may look different from others — it’s face depends on whatever you Value most in your life.
